WHITEFIELD, NH—Weathervane Theatre’s 2024 Patchwork Players are proud to present their last two productions of the season—The Claw and North Country Moosical Musical. Sponsored by Crosstown Motors, Little Village Toy and Book Shop, New England Wire Technologies, and Passumpsic Bank, these family-friendly musicals will perform throughout the North Country this August.
The Claw: A New Musical for the Whole Family, written by Denver Casado, Jessica Penzias, Kerry Kazmierowicztrimm, Christyn Budzyna, and Jack Mitchell, is currently playing. When an out-of-order claw game suddenly turns back on, all of the toys are ecstatic! Well… all except Dot, a terrified stuffed cow. Can Dot face the moo-sic and conquer her fear of the unknown? Directed and choreographed by Marisa Kirby with musical direction by Andrew Morrissey, The Claw will perform throughout the North Country and close at the Weathervane on Friday, August 9th.
The brand-new North Country Moosical Musical will open on Wednesday, August 14th at 11 AM at Bethlehem’s Colonial Theatre. Weathervane’s Windsock Camp Directors Nicholas Deapo and Emma Aldrich Jordan created this new work specifically for Patchwork with Lindsey Jordan and Andrew Hauprich.
“I will always be a champion for new works,” said Ethan Paulini, Weathervane’s Producing Artistic Director. Through their work with our campers, I witnessed firsthand Nick and Emma’s special talent for cultivating relationships with young people and engaging these young performers with the arts. There’s no one better to bring a new theatre for young audiences piece to the North Country. Families are going to love it”
North Country Moosical Musical finds us on the brink of winter, and the Little Moose must make his first solo journey through the Northern Forest. Determined to find his happiness, our naive hero cautiously travels on when he encounters trouble. Can he learn to utilize his creativity and resourcefulness to save the day? Join the Little Moose on this uniquely North Country tale of adventure, discovery, and creativity! Directed and music directed by Nicholas Deapo with choreography by Danielle Barrett, North Country Moosical Musical will perform at the Weathervane on Friday, August 16th and 23rd. North Country Moosical Musical will also play on the road at Colebrook’s Great North Woods Center for the Arts (Wednesday, August 21 at 11 AM), and at Lisbon Regional School in Lisbon (Wednesday, August 21 at 6 PM).
Both productions feature designs by Milo Cruz (set design and technical direction) and Claire Vogt (props design). Shirley Brill designed costumes for The Claw, and Emma Aldrich Jordan and Hannah Showalter designed costumes for Moosical. Sound design by Jeremy Baldauf (Claw) and Nate Irwin (Moosical). Additional creative team members include Billy Smith (production coordinator) and Emma Aldrich Jordan (production stage manager).
The 2024 Patchwork Players, six early-career artists selected from a highly competitive nationwide search, compose the cast of both productions. The 2024 Patchwork Players are Lily Cameron (University of Alabama at Birmingham), Dan Follett (Fayetteville State University), Elliana Karris (Emerson College), Bebe Moss (Baldwin Wallace University), Ana Lauren Rodriguez (Baldwin Wallace University), and Payton Thomas (AMDA). These six artists are also members of Weathervane’s Intern Program, run by Marisa Kirby.
For the fifth consecutive season, performances at the Weathervane will be held outside as part of the popular Picnic with Patchwork series. Performances are held every Friday at 11 AM. At this pet-friendly event, bring a blanket and a snack and enjoy a great show for the whole family (even the family dog!). In case of rain, alternate arrangements will be made (check facebook.com/weathervanetheatre for the latest updates).
Patchwork performances at Weathervane’s outdoor stage will be sold at the door for $8.50. For touring performances, check with the venue about ticket pricing and ordering. For more information, call 603.837.9322, email [email protected], or visit www.weathervannh.org.
