WHITEFIELD, NH—Weathervane Theatre is pleased to present The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe in the Presidential Hall at the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa this December. Hailed by Broadway World Jr. as “one of the best pieces of family theatre,” le Clanché du Rand’s theatrical adaptation of C.S. Lewis’s classic will perform on Sunday, December 1st at 2 PM and Sunday, December 8th at 11 AM and 2 PM.
ABOUT
In Narnia, the land of eternal winter, the White Witch controls all—until a young girl named Lucy arrives. Travel through the enchanted wardrobe with Peter and Lucy for this entertaining and innovative treatment of C.S. Lewis’s tale of the triumph of good over evil.
Jorge Donoso and Kelly Strandemo star in this two-actor adaptation of this heroic tale of love, faith, courage, and giving.
Jorge Donoso plays Peter and was most recently seen as the Emcee in Cabaret on the Weathervane stage. Jorge’s six seasons at the Weathervane include iconic roles ranging from Puck (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) to Paul (A Chorus Line). Jorge also holds a New Hampshire Theatre Alliance Best Actor Award for his performance as Christopher Boone in Weathervane’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Additional credits include Lincoln Center Theatre, The Drama League of NY, Playmakers Repertory Company, Columbia Stages, PEN America, Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, and the Tony award-winning Alliance Theatre.
Joining Donoso is Kelly Strandemo as Lucy. Kelly has performed on stages from off-Broadway to LA to London. Weathervane audiences may best remember Strandemo on stage as Heidi in What the Constitution Means to Me, Genie Klein in Beautiful, and the inaugural season of North Country Shakes. Also a playwright, Strandemo penned last season’s award-winning Primary and 2020’s The Congresswomen. Kelly’s film credits include CARDIFF, THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME, and HOLD (also the screenwriter).
Kelly revisits the role of Lucy, a role she previously performed off-Broadway.
“It’s a thrill to journey back through the wardrobe and revisit this charming and imaginative adaptation of the C.S. Lewis classic,” said Strandemo. “I was fortunate to appear in the New York production for nearly two years out of its seven-year run, where I was able to experience first-hand how it delighted both children and adults. Narnia is always full of surprises.”
Weathervane Producing Artistic Director Ethan Paulini directs The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Additional creative team includes Jeremy Baldauf (sound and lighting design), Rien Schlecht (production design), and Hannah Showalter (costume design). Egypt Dixon stage manages the production.
