ABOUT
The Nowaks of Buffalo, NY, have always known they were special, ever since that 1942 Christmas Eve miracle when the Blessed Mother appeared in Grandpa’s barbershop! But when one family member sets out to share their story in a one-woman show, a shocking confession unravels the family legend. A heartfelt and hilarious tale of faith, family, and unexpected truths.
Leading the cast as Nowak matriarch Clara is Broadway veteran Valerie Wright. With over half a dozen Broadway titles under her belt, Wright’s most notable credits include starring opposite Jerry Lewis and Victor Garber as Lola in Damn Yankees, Annie Get Your Gun with Bernadette Peters, and the Tony-winning Kimberly Akimbo. Usually a director/choreographer at the Weathervane (Mamma Mia and Dirty Blonde), Wright was last seen on the Weathervane stage in 2023’s Primary.
“This is my fifth experience at the Weathervane,” said Wright. “I am always excited to return whether directing or being directed, because this heartfelt, talented group of individuals always makes me proud to be in their company, and always inspires me to be better.”
Joining Wright in Miracle on South Division Street is Kelly Strandemo as Beverly Nowak whom Weathervane audiences may best remember on stage as Heidi in What the Constitution Means to Me, Genie Klein in Beautiful, and the inaugural season of North Country Shakes. Kelly has performed on stages from off-Broadway to LA to London. Also a playwright, Strandemo penned 2023’s award-winning Primary and 2020’s The Congresswomen. Kelly’s film credits include CARDIFF, THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME, and HOLD (also the screenwriter).
Jorge Donoso plays Jimmy Nowak and was most recently seen as Leo Bloom in The Producers on the Weathervane stage. Jorge’s seven seasons at the Weathervane include iconic roles ranging from Puck (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) to Paul (A Chorus Line). Jorge also holds a New Hampshire Theatre Alliance Best Actor Award for his performance as Christopher Boone in Weathervane’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Additional credits include Lincoln Center Theatre, The Drama League of NY, and the Tony award-winning Alliance Theatre.
Completing the cast is Marisa Kirby as Ruth Nowak. A two-time New Hampshire Theatre Alliance Award winner and genuine triple threat, Kirby has dazzled Weathervane audiences over eight seasons with her versatility in roles ranging from Miss Adelaide (Guys and Dolls) to Titania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) to Cindy Lou Who (Who’s Holiday).
