A voice of a generation, Maltby and Shire are best known for creating the most thrilling, touching, and enduring revues in theatre history—Starting Here, Starting Now and Closer Than Ever. As they complete their trilogy with a new revue,  Weathervane will premiere The Story Goes On: The Songs of Maltby and Shire, featuring music from all three works and selections from other hits like Baby and Big. Directed by Tony Award winner Richard Maltby Jr., this is your chance to be a part of theatre history, revisit classics, and experience brand-new material you can’t hear anywhere else! The story goes on.

Sunday, July 21 | Richard at the Rocks: A special event to celebrate a moment in Weathervane history. Join Tony Award-winning theatrical legend Richard Maltby Jr. and the Weathervane company for an exclusive glimpse into the creation of our thrilling World Premiere musical, The Story Goes On: The Songs of Maltby and Shire. Featuring Q&A, auction and live performances from the company and Maltby himself. Open bar and hors-d’oeuvres. Tickets: $59 for one or $100 for two.

David Shire (he/him)

An Oscar and Grammy winner and multiple Tony and Emmy nominee, DAVID SHIRE has composed prolifically for the theater, films, television and recordings. Broadway: Baby, Big. Off-Broadway: Starting Here, Starting Now, Closer Than Ever, The Sap of Life, Urban Blight, Regional: How Do You Do, I Love You, Take Flight, Sousatzka, and Waterfall. Numerous film scores include Norma Rae (Academy Award, Best Song), The Conversation, All the President’s Men, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, Zodiac, Return to Oz, and Saturday Night Fever (two Grammys). His many television scores have earned five Emmy nominations. Songs recorded by Barbra Streisand, Melissa Manchester, Jennifer Warnes, Billy Preston & Syreeta, Glen Campbell, Kiri Te Kawana, Julie Andrews, and Patti LuPone, among many others. Recently, he was one of three composers commissioned by the Abu Dhabi Abrahamic Family House to compose a three-movement Symphony of Three: Peace, Love, Tolerance for chorus and orchestra. It was premiered at the Abu Dhabi annual arts festival last year and celebrated the completion of its new three sanctuary interfaith complex. He is a member of the Council of the Dramatists Guild of America.

Deniz Cordell (he/him)

Deniz has worked with his friends David Shire & Richard Maltby, Jr. since 2015. Other beloved collaborators include Charles Strouse, the late Tom Jones, the estates of Leonard Rosenman and Vernon Duke, and wife, Annie Pasqua. Off-Broadway, international, and recording credits as musical director/ conductor, arranger, writer, and pianist; one-time “Jeopardy!” loser.

Annie Pasqua (she/her)

FIRST SEASON

A student of noted classical pianist Morton Estrin, Annie’s performance credits include  Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and Symphony Space.  With sister Jenna, Annie is the composer/lyricist/librettist of Tess, a New Rock Opera, which enjoyed a sold-out NYC run in 2010.

Camden Dalie Keech (he/him)

SECOND SEASON 

is happy to return to the mountains for a second season. Camden hails from Central Arkansas, where he studied design, directing, and acting. Camden really hopes you enjoy the show!

Rien Schlecht (she/her)

TWENTIETH SEASON

Favorite Weathervane designs include A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM (NH Theatre Award), GUYS AND DOLLS (NH Theatre Award), EURYDICE, BUYER AND CELLAR, and SWEENEY TODD (NH Theatre Award). Her New York theatre credits – Out of the Box Theatrics, including the Drama Desk-nominated BABY!, several seasons with Theatre For A New Audience, Radio City, Mark Morris Ballet, and many other theatres and TV commercials. She designed The Mysteries at The Flea (Drama Desk nom), The Jinx for HBO, worked on The Woodsman at New World Stages, and the stage and film productions of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM with Julie Taymor. 

Scout Hough (she/her)

SIXTH SEASON

Scout earned a BFA in Lighting Design & Production from UNCSA, and is now pursuing an MAIS at UMaine. She’s thrilled to return to the North Country for her 6th season at the Weathervane. She serves as Manager for the Orono Performing Arts Center, and her other credits include work throughout Maine.

Alexander Pikiben (he/him)

SECOND SEASON

Alex is excited to be back at the Weathervane. He previously worked on GUYS AND DOLLS. He will also be teaching at Truman State University in the fall. He would like to thank his fantastic partner AP. Free Palestine.

Billy Smith (he/him)

FOURTH SEASON

While this is his fourth season at Weathervane, this is his first season living a full year in beautiful New Hampshire! Originally from Columbus, Ohio, he holds a BFA in Musical Theatre. He is constantly thankful that both the company and the community have taken him in so graciously. Billy is also the scenic charge and production coordinator for this production.

Claire is a scenic artist based in central Ohio. Having graduated last year with a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology, they enjoy collaborating with others to create amazing art and shows. They have recently been working as a freelance designer and are excited to work at Weathervane this summer!

Pyper Williams is spending her third season here at Weathervane painting away in the shop, bringing to life the sets you see on stage this summer. She studied Acting at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts but now prefers to take a more behind-the-scenes approach with painting sets.

EGYPT DIXON (she/her)

SEVENTH SEASON

Credits: Atlantic Theater Company (Production Stage Manager): ANATOMY OAS. TFANA (Assistant Stage Manager): FEFU AND HER FRIENDS. Weston Playhouse (Asst Stage Manager): INDECENT. She is excited to return to the White Mountains. She recently received her MFA in Performing Arts Management from Brooklyn College.

Reed Davis*, he/him 

FIRST SEASON

Reed is thrilled to join the Weathervane team for their 59th season! Born and raised in Maine, he has been the Resident Production Stage Manager at Penobscot Theatre Company for three seasons. He has also worked with Opera House Arts, First Stage Milwaukee, and Opera Maine.

SECOND SEASON

Emma is excited to return to Weathervane as the Patchwork Stage manager! Favorite shows include WAITRESS (Scenic Artist, Ogunquit Playhouse), RAINBOW FISH (PSM, Weathervane), DROWSY CHAPERONE (Artist in Residence, Cayuga BOCES).
